Forêt LaroseThe Larose Forest trails have re-opened for the 2018 season after a two-month break for the winter melt. The trails officially re-opened in mid May, nearly a full month earlier than last year when forest enthusiasts unusually waited until mid June.

The Larose Forest trails are typically closed each year from mid March to mid May. Re-opened for the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons, the forest trails offer a terrific escape for walkers, runners, and cyclists as well as horseback riding, dog walking, and a myriad of other forest escapades.

Since last year, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell have opened a new network of activity trails. Before the start of the new season, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell added trail and intersection signs to help provide direction on these activity trails. Even more activity trails are expected to open this summer, including Trail 16 that runs from P1 to P7 on the west side of Larose Forest.

One of Canada’s great outdoor attractions, Larose Forest is a 27,000-acre forest that was re-initiated in 1928 by Mr. Ferdinand Larose. It is noted as the second-largest planted forest in southern Ontario. The forest is managed by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
