Limoges meets to underline Nation SportsPlex support

Posted on 13th April 2017 by monlimoges in Limoges & Forest

LimogesGroups in Village Limoges held a meeting to help organize support for the Nation Sportsplex, a proposed complex that will feature both a multi-use dome and community centre for the Nation Municipality. The groups will help mobilize Village Limoges interests in the project, gathering letters of support and sharing the community’s desire for growth and healthy living.

The Sportsplex is a potential “game changer” for The Nation Municipality, a landmark complex that will promote social and economic development, inspire “living locally” culture and heritage in a dynamic municipality, and support much-needed health and wellness programs for community hubs like Village Limoges, neighbouring St-Albert, and other communities in the larger national capital region.

The project has been in the works for some time and the plans were recently presented to the public at a February “open house” event in Village Limoges. The project has received tremendous interest and support from the community. Residents can further inspire the project by signing a local letter of support and by voicing their encouragement to both the Limoges Recreation Committee and The Nation Municipality council members.

The various Village Limoges groups will continue to promote support and interest in the project at upcoming local 2017 events, including:

Friday Open Play Night at the Gym on Apr. 13
Optimist Talent Show on Apr. 23
Bean supper and bingo on Apr. 28
Optimist Spring Bazaar on Apr. 30
Limoges Paint Night on May 5

Support for the Nation Sportsplex will also be discussed at upcoming local monthly meetings: the Limoges Optimist Club meeting on Apr. 19, the Limoges Recreation Committee meeting on Apr. 27, and the Limoges Citizens’ Committee on May 9.

Limoges Recreation Committee
The Limoges Recreation Committee is a dynamic team of volunteers working to improve recreation in the community through projects, policies, plans, programs, budgets, and other issues related to local facilities and activities. The committee meets once a month and both supports and coordinates local projects including fundraisers. The committee also engages and connects the local community on their needs and expectations as it relates to recreation in the Village of Limoges.
