LimogesResidents and groups in Village Limoges have rallied ahead of an important municipal vote on a proposed multi-use activities dome and community centre. On Monday, those residents and groups will show their support in person before The Nation Municipality votes on the current proposal as part of a June 26 council meeting.

The Sportsplex is a potential “game changer” for The Nation Municipality, a landmark complex that will promote social and economic development, inspire “living locally” culture and heritage in a dynamic municipality, and support much-needed health and wellness programs for community hubs like Village Limoges, neighbouring St-Albert, and other communities in the larger national capital region.

The June 26 council meeting takes place at the St-Viateur catholic school, whose gymnasium currently serves as the village’s community centre. The meeting starts at 4pm, but the segment on the Nation Sportsplex is scheduled to take place at 6pm. The June 26 agenda is published on the Nation Municipality’s website.

Local groups have encouraged residents to attend the Monday meeting to show their support for the project, noting it is “crucial that we have a strong showing of supporters on site for the vote.”

Support for the proposed project has been growing steadily in recent months while the desire for such a project has been on the village’s wish list for years.

The current project has received tremendous interest and support from the community while The Nation Municipality has published letters of support from groups like the Limoges Citizens Committee and Club du Bonheur. Residents have also shown their interest by signing a local letter of support and by voicing their encouragement to both the Limoges Recreation Committee and The Nation Municipality council members.

Limoges Recreation Committee
The Limoges Recreation Committee is a dynamic team of volunteers working to improve recreation in the community through projects, policies, plans, programs, budgets, and other issues related to local facilities and activities. The committee meets once a month and both supports and coordinates local projects including fundraisers. The committee also engages and connects the local community on their needs and expectations as it relates to recreation in the Village of Limoges.
