The Nation fills hole along Indian Creek Road

LimogesThe Nation Municipality has filled a large hole on the side of Indian Creek Road in the north corner of Village Limoges. The Nation Municipality used an excavator to fill the hole with medium size rocks, plugging the hole which had expanded from one foot to nearly eight feet in length under the road’s side railing.

The small hole was noticed by residents on Apr. 8, 2017, but it slowly expanded in length as the combination of melting snow and falling rain caused further erosion. The Nation Municipality filled the hole on Apr. 18.

The hole in the road was located just after Indian Creek Road turned to a gravel road in North Limoges, Ontario. The hole fell under the side railing and down towards the local river stream. Local residents showed caution (and common sense) around the hole, so no one was believed to be hurt.

Local residents are happy that the hole has been filled.

The erosion happened in the first spring after the Nation Municipality replaced an open ditch system with a new storm water management system. The new system pushes water down the hill beyond the paved road portion onto the side of the gravel road portion.
